Mayors' Institute on City Design

MICD East Tampa rescheduled for December 6-8, 2017 due to Hurricane Irma

TAMPA, FL – In an abundance of caution as Hurricane Irma approaches Florida, the 2017 eastern regional session of the Mayors’ Institute on City Design (MICD East) has been postponed to December 6-8, 2017. In addition to protecting the safety of all participants, postponing the session allows those in the hurricane’s expected path to focus on preparing their communities for the storm.

Originally scheduled for September 13-15, 2017, MICD East will be hosted by the Florida Center for Community Design and Research at the University of South Florida. Participants will be welcomed by Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn.

Eight mayors will attend the rescheduled session: Mayor Joe Kilsheimer of Apopka, FL; Mayor Ian Baltutis of Burlington, NC; Mayor James Diossa of Central Falls, RI; Mayor Edward “Ted” Terry of Clarkston, GA; Mayor Errick D. Simmons of Greenville, MS; Mayor Candace Hollingsworth of Hyattsville, MD; Mayor Jose Segarra of Killeen, TX; and Mayor Milissa Holland of Palm Coast, FL.
