Professor J. Mark Schuster
1951 - 2008
It is with great sorrow that the Mayors’ Institute on City Design announces the death of the J. Mark Schuster on February 25th, 2008.
Schuster, a professor of urban studies and planning at MIT, ran several regional sessions of the Mayors’ Institute, since the first Eastern Regional session in 1991. Most recently, he managed a session at MIT in December 2006. He oversaw MICD’s expansion into Institutes held at Princeton, Morgan State, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Maryland.
In December of 2006, he traveled to Washington, DC for the Institute’s 20th anniversary lecture and dinner. Schuster really connected wonderfully with the mayors he helped the Mayors’ Institute serve over the years, and will be missed by many.
